本片改编自谷崎润一郎的小说，讲述了陷入扭曲关系的4名男女的爱恨交织的故事。有妻子的园田无法放弃成为画家的梦想，退学去了美术学校。有一天，他的目光追随着在学校擦肩而过的美丽青年·光，于是他邀请光到家里做素描模特，从此两人便开始了幽会。但是，他发现光有未婚妻。
