But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present. Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.

神乐坂惠,远藤贤司,池田优斗,森康子无数次的灾难与战争，让人类的数量锐减，似乎也因此使得宇宙变得更加宁静。而今人工智能机器人已在宇宙间占有绝对的统治地位，人类却只有两成左右。虽然科学极大进步，可惜人类无法突破寿命的百年限定，他们匆匆而来，默默而终，不知不觉走向灭亡。 带有浓重昭和气息的宇宙飞船中，生活着编号为722的人形机器人铃木洋子（神乐坂惠 饰）。她与AI机器人相伴，永远奔波在漫长的宇宙旅途中。她的日常百无聊赖，洗衣服、缝扣子、剪指甲、打扫卫生，孤独与静寂永无止境。洋子是一名宇宙快递员，她所投递的货物却都是些看似无关紧要的小物件。每次投递需要花费数年时间，纵使瞬间旅行已成可能，不过她却似乎有什么理由消磨这漫长的时光。一颗孤独的星球上，仿佛被全宇宙所遗忘的人类，在破败的街道上等待着远方的造访……
